New FIBA Ranking for Women’s National Teams
São Paulo / Brazil - After the conclusion of the FIBA World Championship for Women in Brazil, FIBA has announced its new ranking for women’s national teams.
The top four teams USA, Russia, Australia and Brazil were able to defend their top positions, but Australia (new 860 points, old 760 points) could close the gap to leader USA (new 1030 points, old 1130 points).
The gold medal game of the FIBA World Championship was at the same time the decisive game for the second position in the new FIBA Ranking. Australia not only won gold but also overcame Russia for the second position.
France moved up from 7th position to 5th position, whilst the Czech Republic moved from 10th position to 6th position and
All teams from the top ten were able to keep their position in the top ten.
